Adventurous holidays in Namibia
Adventure activities find their home in Southwest Africa in Namibia. The world's oldest desert holds more secrets than you could imagine, including fantastic hiking, dunes as tall as mountains, German colonial buildings, extreme sports and hulls of wrecked ships on the Skeleton Coast.
As well as many choices for adventure, Namibia is an exemplary game viewing destination. At Etosha National Park the barren landscape is home to 114 mammal species as well as 340 types of bird, including flamingos and white pelicans, who revel when the flat, saline desert is turned into a lagoon by the yearly rain.
The best time to visit Namibia is not so easy to determine. The best time to view animals is between May and October - this is the busiest time for tourism. At the beginning of this time you'll find the landscape is a little greener and the air feels cleaner. June, July and August are the driest months and in January and February you may be subject to thunderstorms. Weather at the coast remains fairly constant, with warm temperatures year-round and less humidity than other areas during the rainy season.
